Scottish contact center firm Ascensos arrived in Trinidad & Tobago with plans to install a delivery center in the country’s capital (Port of Spain) by the end of June 2023.
The Motherwell-based firm says it will initially hire around 100 people in T&T, but will increase the headcount to 300 over the next three years.
T&T seemed like the right location for nearshore operations, stated the company’s CEO John Devlin, citing the country’s cultural affinity with the US and Canada, as well as time zone alignment with European countries.
The Caribbean office will primarily serve the company’s North American clients, according to Ascensos.

Founded in 2013, Ascensos employs more than 3,000 people across offices in the UK, Romania, Turkey and South Africa.
The BPO counts KFC, B&Q and Peloton among its clients, providing multi-channel customer contact solutions, from engaging customers on social media sites to providing business insights for retailers.
Ascensos has bots and other AI tools in its arsenal, thanks to its acquisition of a significant stake in Digital Tribe, a South African company specializing in predictive and autonomous CX solutions.
Hiring in T&T won’t be a challenge for Ascensos; the company provides on-the-job training for all new hires. In the UK, it has experimented with agent recruitment in the countryside.
