Spanish BPO firm Babel expanded its operations in Colombia, doubling the workforce at its delivery center in Bogota.
The expansion comes almost a year after the BPO provider set aside US$11 million for investing in Colombia over a three-year period.
“Babel brings to Colombia a talent training policy […] which will position us as a world class export and services hub,” said Carmen Caballero, president of ProColombia, the country’s investment promotion agency.

The Spanish firm set up shop in Colombia in 2007 with a contact center in Bogota. Three years later, it expanded to Medellin, followed by Cali five years after. In spite of its long history in Colombia, only 100 people are working for the Babel in the country
Babel, whose annual turnover is estimated to exceed US$190 million this year, offers a variety of BPO services such as customer relationship management (CRM), technical support and back-office services.
The firm employs more than 2,800 professionals globally, with a large majority of them operating out of Latin America, where it runs delivery centers in nearly a dozen countries, including Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama and the Dominican Republic.
Babel was founded in 1999 in Spain by Javier Santiso and Juan Luis Goizueta. The company’s first office was located in Madrid, and it initially focused on providing contact center services to Spanish companies.
