Globant Acquires French Rival Pentalog

Argentinian IT firm Globant bagged its French competitor Pentalog, strengthening its strategy of winning lucrative deals in the European market, where aging populations are forcing industries to embrace tech solutions to remain efficient.

Founded in 1993, Pentalog employs over 1,300 people in delivery centers in France, Romania, Moldova, Mexico, Vietnam, the United States, Germany, Switzerland and Singapore.

Headquartered in Paris, Pentalog develops more than 250 different digital solutions, with some of its products being in high demand by organizations in industries such as banking, sports, gaming, travel and education.

Its clients include the likes of Criteo, Adidas, Cegid, BitPanda, TripAdvisor, Ipsos and G4S.

Globant first expanded into Europe in 2005 when it opened an office in London. Since then, the company has opened offices in 15 additional European countries and its regional employees now account for over 20% of its global workforce.

The acquisition increases Globant’s prospects of securing IT contracts outside of Europe, as many of Pentalog’s customers are global. Additionally, Pentalog is able to get closer to its customers relatively quickly because it also offers talent training, which many of its customers take advantage of.

Pentalog reported annual sales of US$163 million for 2022. Approximately 80% of its sales come from European customers, with the remainder generated in North America.

“I have always admired Globant, even before this acquisition,” says Frédéric Lasnier, co-founder and CEO of Pentalog, who will join Globant once the financial deal is completed.
