Globant Celebrates 20th Anniversary with An Intelligent Building in Tandil

Globant is celebrating its 20th anniversary big time.

The Argentinean tech behemoth unveiled an intelligent building in the mountainous city of Tandil as part of its 20th anniversary celebration.

The company has been operating in Tandil since 2007. Approximately 300 employees provide software development services from the city, mainly to US customers. It was from Tandil where Globant developed software for Google.

The company’s four co-founders (Martín Migoya, Guibert Englebienne, Martín Umarán, and Néstor Nocetti) attended the event, with Mayor Miguel Lunghi also participating.

Globant has made significant contributions to the town’s knowledge economy over the years by offering skill training to hundres of local graduates through partnerships with regional colleges.

When the software vendor first set its feet in the town, barely 15 tech companies operated there, with just 300 employees. Today, there are more than 60 companies, with total headcount exceeding 2,000.

The number of students enrolling into tech programs is also on the rise. Over 1,100 students have now enrolled in technology classes in the town, according to Gobant’s brand manager Wanda Weigert.

Guibert Englebienne, one of the company’s co-founders,  is a Tandil native.

“It was from here we started working for Google. We became the first company to make software for Google outside of the Googleplex in California. We weren’t in the United States; we were in Argentina. And we weren’t in Buenos Aires; we were in Tandil,” Englebienne said.
