Argentinean software developer Globant has made available Signal OTT, its flagship platform-as-a-service (PaaS), on Microsoft’s cloud computing service, Azure, in an apparent bid to capitalize on the growing demand for video streaming.
The over the top (OTT) platform is designed to help media companies launch and manage video apps on all connected devices, including cell phone and television.
Considering its statement, the platform helps media companies to keep a tight control on their content, and engage customers with a verity of offerings and services such as gaming tools, social interactions, comments, and likes.
Based on plug-in architecture, the app reportedly meets the certification requirements of each mobile or connected TV platform.
“OTT adoption and streaming video consumption are growing massively, but developing and managing OTT apps are complex and expensive processes,” says Russ Whitman, managing director at Globant Seattle.
Over-the-top (OTT) applications bypass traditional distribution system, such as DTH, and therefore are lower in cost.
“Signal simplifies the OTT workflow and allows companies to focus on their content and business vision,” stated Diego Tártara, CTO Studios at Globant.
Among its media customers include Yahoo, PopcornFlix, Red Bull TV, Crackle and Whistle Sports.
