Globant is gearing up to launch an innovation center in the Mexican city of Monterrey to develop AI solutions for local industrialists.
The implementation of AI in conventional industries such as manufacturing, retail and CPG has enormous potential, stated the company’s co-founder Martín Migoya, hinting that factories in Monterrey can automate many of their reparative jobs.
“Monterrey has world-class talent that has the necessary tools to boost our growth plans in the region,” Migoya added.
Globant said it will invest US$60 million in Mexico with a goal of hiring 300 professionals in the next three years. The Argentine company already employs more than 3,500 professionals across three delivery centers in Mexico, with new delivery centers being built in the cities of Aguascalientes, Queretaro and Mérida.
The news comes weeks after reports emerged that Mexico may soon grow into a nearshore manufacturing hub as more US companies move factories closer to home from China.
Globant is already serving several large clients in Mexico, including Japanese automaker Nissan, insurance agency MetLife and retailers Liverpool and Coppel.
“Mexico is a hub of digital talent and innovation like few other countries in the world. This new workspace will allow us to continue with a sustained growth plan for the coming years in the city of Monterrey”, said Santiago San Martín, Country Manager of Globant Mexico.
