Google is already offering digital training in the southeastern states of Tabasco, Yucatán and Quintana Roo, according to Mexico News Daily.
Nowhere else in the world has the tech giant invested so much money for the training of women in digital technology, claimed Florencia Sabatini, Google’s Director of Communications in Spanish-speaking Latin America.
Analysts say Google could have been encouraged by the White House to create job opportunities south of the border in an attempt to cut down on the vast immigration flows into the US.
The announcement comes almost a month after Google unveiled plans to invest US$1.2 billion in Latin America to support economic development and digital transformation in the region.
Around 10% of this amount will be donated to NGOs striving to generate job opportunities for women.
