Huawei Launches Startup Acceleration Program in Mexico

Mexican startups will have a chance to accelerate their development process with some help from Chinese telecom giant Huawei.

Huawei, alongisde Mexico’s Foreign Relations Secretariat, informed that opportunities under the Huawei Spark program will be available mainly for startups oriented towards cloud computing solutions.

“The cloud is a vital connector for business transformation, especially when integrating Artificial Intelligence,” said Omar Arab, Chief Development Officer for Huawei Cloud.

Huawei is already offering similar acceleration programs in Chile, Peru and Colombia.

Nearly 50 startups in the region have received financial assistance ranging between US$2,000 and US$100,000 under Huawei Spark.

In addition to the financial and technical support provided by the Chinese firm, Mexico’s Foreign Relations Secretariat will provide participants access to its network of international contacts.

Some of the beneficiares from the program include Mexico’s We Book You and Finvero, as well as Chile’s Cryptomate.

We Book You develops mobile apps that connect users with local businesses and service providers. The app is expected to launch in early 2024. Finvero develops a financial technology platform that helps small businesses to access loans and other financial services. Cryptomate is a cryptocurrency exchange platform, which is also expected to go live in late 2024.
