Huawei Will Award LATAM Partners Who Push for Tech Transformation

Huawei is growing its business partnership program in Latin America by leaps and bounds.

The Chinese ICT giant set aside US$40 million which will be used to incentivize Latin American business partners that are creating digital transformation infrastructure.

Huawei shared the news during a regional technology conference in Sao Paulo, where the company stated that its enterprise business had expanded by 38% in 2022.

Sonda, a Spanish IT integrator, is the newest partner to join forces with Huawei, having just inked a deal with the Brazilian government to create an optical fiber network.

The project entails constructing, operating, and maintaining a 7,000 kilometer optical fiber network connecting 79 towns and government institutions across Mato Grosso do Sul.

“We are delighted to partner with Sonda on this important project,” said Tony Sze, President of Huawei Enterprise Latin America, in a statement. “This partnership will help us to bring the benefits of digital transformation to the people of Mato Grosso do Sul.”

According to local media reports, Sonda has teamed up with the Chinese firm to carry out several similar projects across the region. They are building a smart city in Campinas and deploying a cloud-based solution for the Chilean government. They are also working on a project in Colombia to create cybersecurity solutions for local businesses.

Despite its troubles with the US government, Huawei has managed to keep up the rapid pace of expansion of its Latin American operations. In 2022, the company’s enterprise business in the region generated revenue of US$10 billion, up from $6 billion in 2021.
