iQor Doubles Down in Colombia; Expands Medellin Call Center

BPO provider iQor is doubling its workforce in Colombia with a significant expansion of its Medellin call center, barely a year after its launch.

“The growing demand for BPO digital services has fueled our Colombian expansion,” stated iQor.

To accommodate this surge, the company added 22,000 square feet to its existing facility, bringing the total footprint to 45,000 square feet.

This expansion is expected to translate into 500 new local jobs, pushing the Medellin team to over 1,000 employees.

The expansion marks a remarkable turnaround for iQor, which emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy just two years ago. The company emphasizes its commitment to flexible hybrid work environments, offering both in-office and work-from-home opportunities for new hires.

A year ago, the company launched a mega contact center in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which solidified its US presence.

iQor provides a suite of back-office services, including customer care, tech support, cash applications and accounts receivable management.

Just three years ago, the company navigated a liquidity crisis, filing for bankruptcy protection under the weight of a US$1 billion debt burden. This prompted operational streamlining, including the closure of some delivery centers and workforce reduction. However, iQor’s resilience and strategic restructuring paid off, enabling a swift rebound.

Today, iQor boasts over 35,000 employees across nine countries, including Mexico, Panama, Trinidad, India, the Philippines and the US.
