A group of entreprenuers from Jalisco have created an application called “Sign’n” that translates text and voice into sign language in order to help the hard of hearing.
“We want it to be a tool for learning if you have a deaf person in your social circle or simply if you find someone with hearing impairment and you don’t know how to communicate,” said Briana Osorio, one of the creators.
The app uses AI to translate dictated words on phones, which are then interpreted by a virtual character who signs the correct translation on screen.
The program will be available as a free mobile app for most users, while companies with hearing impaired employees will need to acquire the software license.
