KIO Networks Buys Land for Yet Another Data Center in Queretaro

KIO Networks purchased 25,000 square meters of land in Queretaro to construct its third data center in the Mexican state.

If everything goes according to the plan, the data center will be up and running by the end of 2024.

Data centers are the building blocks of a digital economy, stated Santiago Suinaga, executive director of KIO Data Centers, adding that Queretaro may soon grow into a major tech hub in North America.

Across Mexico, KIO Networks operates as many as five data centers. It also owns data centers in Panama, the Dominican Republic and Guatemala.

In late 2022, KIO Networks opened a mega data facility in the Valley of Mexico, where Mexico City is located, increasing its infrastructure by 20MW and adding more than 50,000 square meters for data storage.

Data centers are sprouting up all over the state of Queretaro, with reports claiming that up to 15 data centers are either under construction or are about to be built in the state.

Microsoft, Google, Ascenty, Amazon and several other top global firms are shopping for lands to build data facilities in Mexico. The centers will come with investments worth more than US$3 billion and demand collectively 400 megawatts of power.
