Contact center outsourcing provider Konecta opened a new delivery center in Cordoba, Argentina. The US$90 million facility spans 2,400 square meters and is the company’s third location in the city.
The new facility will add 300 jobs to the local workforce, bringing Konecta’s total employee count in Argentina to nearly 10,000. Konecta operates 10 other delivery centers in the country, spread throughout the cities of Resistencia, Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Rosario.
The Spanish BPO major has a strong presence in Latin America, with delivery centers in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru. The company serves 26 large clients in the region, providing mainly customer service, technical support and other back-office services.
Konecta’s Latin American operations began in 1997, in Mexico City. Three years later, it expanded operations to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru. The biggest turning point came in 2022, when the company acquired regional rival Comdata.
The merger, however, resulted in the loss of around 2,000 employees. Company officials claimed that the closing of some offices was required to “streamline operations and improve efficiency.”
The headcount appears to be returning to pre-acquisition levels, nonetheless. Konecta recently announced plans for expansion in Colombia as well.
Konecta reportedly has more than 35 offices in Colombia alone. Latin America as a business block generates US$1.3 billion in revenue annually for the company.
More than 40,000 people are working for Konecta in Latin America. The key sectors it serves include telecommunications, financial services, retail and healthcare.
