MSC Opens Shared Services Center in Querétaro

American metal solutions vendor Material Sciences Corporation (MSC) established a shared services center in the Mexican city of Querétaro.

The center, constructed with an investment of around US$23 million, will employ around 500 people, contributing to the region’s growing employment opportunities.

The Querétaro center will provide finance and accounting, as well as customer care services, to the company’s clients in the United States.

“Querétaro is the ideal place to establish a shared services center,” stated John Hill, VP and Director of Digital Information at MSC Direct. “The city’s strong infrastructure, coupled with the presence of a large number of universities, provides an excellent environment for our operations.”

MSC, headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, provides a comprehensive range of technology and repair services to a diverse clientele spanning industries such as automotive and consumer goods.

This is the sixth US investment in Queretaro so far this year, stated Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, Head of the state’s Secretariat of Sustainable Development. Together, these investments have created more than 4,000 jobs, Tercero added.

A strong infrastructure and the presence of a large number of universities are the main draw for American companies setting up back-offices in Queretaro.

Consumer food giant Kellogg’s and pet supplies retailer Petco also operate shared services centers in the city.
