Phdata Walks Into Uruguay With Nooka Labs Acquisition

US-based data storage and analytics services provider PhData expanded its operations to Uruguay with the acquisition of Nooka Labs, an IT company specializing in data engineering.

The companies have not disclosed the financial details of the transaction, nor have they given any information about how many employees Nooka Labs has.

According to its website, Nooka Labs runs two delivery centers: one in Montevideo (Uruguay) and another in Austin, Texas.

The Uruguayan firm will continue to operate independently even after the closure of the transaction, said PhData, adding that it hopes to sell its services to Nooka Lab’s customers.

Like PhData, Nooka Labs is also a partner of Snowflake, a Montana-based data-as-a-services provider whose cloud-based platform simplifies data management.

Nooka Labs’ ability to modernize data using Snowflake seems to have prompted the US company to consider an acquisition.

“Our ambition is to be the world leader in services for the modern data stack. It’s imperative that we build a world-class delivery capability across the globe to meet customer needs and we’re excited about the opportunity in Latin America,” said Ryan Bosshart, CEO of PhData.
