TCS Snaps Up British Digital Agency W12 Studios

Indian IT services giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has acquired British digital design agency W12 Studios as part of its broader plans to scale up operations of its digital arm TCS Interactive.

Founded in 2012, W12 Studios employs around 50 people at its delivery center in London. TCS has not disclosed the financial details of the deal.

“W12 Studios will be part of TCS Interactive, further strengthening that already impressive array of creative and experience services it offers,” the Mumbai-based company said in a statement.

Even after the transaction closes, W12 Studios will continue to operate under its own brand, with the company’s co-founders retaining their current roles.

“With its bold, provocative and visionary approach to design, W12 Studios adds to TCS Interactive’s portfolio of services as it helps the world’s leading brands innovate, create and deliver unique digital experiences across the entire user journey,” said Krishnan Ramanujam, president of TCS’ business and technology services unit.

TCS created Interactive by adding more capabilities to Brightfon Inc, a Santa Clara-based firm that the Indian company acquired in 2010. But its digital arm is not as well known as Accenture Interactive, although both offer almost similar digital services.
